CALCULATORFUNCTION.COM
About CalculatorFunction.com
Free finance calculators that explain their own reasoning, built and maintained by one person rather than generated in bulk.
What this site is for
Most online calculators return a number and stop. You learn that your instalment is a certain amount, or that your investment might reach a certain value, and nothing about what drives that result or what would change it. That is a missed opportunity, because the reasoning is usually more useful than the figure.
CalculatorFunction.com exists to close that gap. Every tool here returns a result and then explains the calculation behind it, what each input means, which assumptions matter most, and where the estimate is likely to diverge from what a bank, insurer or tax authority will actually tell you.
Which country’s rules these follow
Worth stating plainly, because it decides whether a result means anything to you. The tools fall into two groups. The general ones — percentages, BMI, age and date gaps, tip splitting, fuel cost, discounts, profit margin, break-even, ROI, payback period, simple and compound interest — are arithmetic, and arithmetic has no nationality. They behave the same wherever you are.
The rest are built around specific Indian instruments and rules: PPF, EPF, NPS, Sukanya Samriddhi, NSC, KVP, SCSS and the Post Office Monthly Income Scheme; gratuity on the conventional 15/26 factor; GST, HRA exemption, TDS, professional tax, advance tax and the old-versus-new regime comparison; and stamp duty on property purchases. Outside India those tools will still do the arithmetic you ask of them, but the scheme structures, exemption rules and tax treatment they assume are Indian, and they will not match another jurisdiction.
Display currency is a separate setting and is yours to choose. The selector in the header changes how figures are shown on any tool and remembers your choice on your device. It changes presentation only — it does not re-base a calculation onto another country’s rules.
One gap worth naming rather than leaving you to discover it: United States retirement and payroll instruments — 401(k) and IRA accounts, FICA withholding, Social Security estimates, and mortgage escrow or PMI — are not covered yet. A US visitor is well served by the general tools above and by the loan, investment-growth and net-worth calculators, which are jurisdiction-free; the scheme-specific ones are not written for that system.
Who runs it
CalculatorFunction.com is run independently under the site’s own name, by someone who got tired of calculators that hand back a number with no explanation of how it got there.
This is not an editorial team, an agency, or a content network. It is one person maintaining a set of tools, which is worth stating plainly so you can judge what the site is and is not. Every article was written specifically for this site rather than assembled from other sources.
How the calculators are built
Each tool implements a standard, publicly documented formula — amortisation for loans, compound growth for investments, the conventional 15/26 factor for gratuity, and so on. The formula used is printed on the page for every calculator, so you can check the method rather than trust the output.
Calculations run entirely in your browser using JavaScript. Nothing you type is transmitted anywhere, stored on a server, or logged. This is a technical fact rather than a promise: there is no backend to send it to. If you use the save feature, values are written to your own browser storage on your own device.
Results are deliberately shown alongside a breakdown rather than as a single headline number, because the components usually carry more information than the total. A loan instalment tells you what you pay each month; the total interest tells you what the loan costs.
Editorial standards
A few rules govern everything published here.
- Explain the mechanism, not just the answer. A reader who understands why compounding accelerates is better served than one who has been given a number.
- Do not state current rates, tax slabs or statutory limits as fact. These change, and a stale figure presented confidently is worse than no figure. Where a rate matters, the article explains how the rate works and tells you to verify the current one officially.
- Say what the tool cannot do. Every calculator here is an estimate built on assumptions, and the assumptions are stated rather than hidden.
- No copied content. Every article, FAQ and explanation on this site was written for it.
- Disclose AI assistance honestly. Some of the writing on this site is drafted with AI assistance, then reviewed, fact-checked and edited by the person who runs it before publishing. The formulas, the figures each calculator returns and the judgment behind what goes live are not delegated.
What this site is not
It is not financial advice. Nothing here accounts for your particular circumstances, your tax position, your obligations or your risk tolerance, and no calculator can. For a decision that is large, irreversible or complex, the right move is to speak to someone qualified who can look at your full situation.
It is also not a substitute for the terms you are actually offered. Lenders, insurers and investment providers use their own timing conventions, rounding rules, fees and eligibility criteria. Treat any result here as a well-reasoned starting point for a conversation, not as the number you will be quoted.
How the site is funded
The calculators are free and always will be. The site carries advertising to cover hosting and the time spent maintaining it. Advertising is kept away from the calculator controls and the results, and legal pages carry no advertising at all.
We do not accept payment for favourable coverage, do not recommend specific financial products, and have no commercial relationship with any lender, insurer or fund. There is nothing here to sell you.
Corrections and contact
If you find a calculation that looks wrong, an explanation that is unclear, or a figure that has gone out of date, please say so. Corrections are genuinely welcome and are the main way this site improves.
